A new three-equation model for the CO2 laser

Abstract: Three rate equations describing the single-mode CO2 laser dynamics are derived by applying the theory of linear filters to an improved four-level model. The model is studied in the case of periodic modulations of the losses and compared with the outcome of an experiment, revealing a good agreement.
