New approach to noise factor measurement of imaging devices

Abstract: A new method for noise factor determination in image intensifier tubes is described. The measurements made in second- and third-generation image intensifiers are in accordance with theory and experiments reported in the literature. This method allows one to carry out the measurement on the overall screen instead of the central area only.
