Abstract: We have measured the room temperature N2 and O2 pressure-broadening coefficients for the 2.4978-THz 132,12 ? 121,11J = 27/2 ? 25/2 line of HO2 consisting of two unresolved hyperfine components. The measurements were made at the European Laboratory for Nonlinear Spectroscopy in Florence. Italy, using a tunable far-infrared spectrometer (TuFIR). based on the mixing of radiation from two CO2 lasers and a microwave synthesizer on a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) diode. The pressure-broadening results obtained, and their 1s uncertainties, are aN2 = 47.4 ± 4.4 kHz/Pa (6.3 ± 0.6 MHz/Torr) and aO2 = 19.9 ± 1.6 kHz/Pa (2.7 ± 0.2 MHz/Torr); this corresponds to aair = 41.6 ± 3.8 kHz/Pa (5.6 ± 0.5 MHz/Torr).
