Abstract: It is shown that in the superfluorescent decay of N>>1 atoms, off-diagonal atom-field correlations are very simply related to diagonal ones. This link allows one to eliminate immediately off-diagonal atom-field correlations from the hierarchy which describes the time evolution of the atomic system and of the photon statistics in oscillatory superfluorescence.
