Optical whispering-gallery mode microresonators based on liquid droplets

Description

The Group activity is focused on research, development and applications of novel laser-based methods for high-performance optical sensing. Most of the devised systems rely on high-finesse optical cavities, such as resonators made by highly-reflective mirrors or plasmonic elements, as well as whispering-gallery-mode resonators made from solid & liquid dielectric media. A great potential towards applications like strain-acoustic measurements, inertial sensing, liquid spectroscopy and biosensing are clearly shown. Also, new concepts interrogation techniques are developed and optimized aiming at sensitivity, precision and bandwidth that suprpass the performance of conventional systems.
