Abstract: A new class of corrected homogeneous acircular refractive lens systems (CHARLES) for integrated optics is presented. These optical systems, which cinsist of a small number of elementary lenses bounded by noncircular arcs, can be designed to be fully corrected over wide field angles. They can be fabricated by standard masking and diffusion processes.
