Abstract: Nonlinear polarisation switching of picosecond pulses from the linear polarisation eigenstates of a 200m-long lowbirefringence spun fibre is reported. The relatively low switching peak power of 20 W is promising for applications to all-optical processing and intensity discrimination of ultrashort pulses.
