Abstract: A method to reduce soliton interactions in a long distance soliton transmission system with lumped amplifiers is introduced. The method is based on the insertion of properly designed bandpass optical filters after each amplifier. Numerical simulations show that a bit rate improvement of at least a factor of two may be achieved.
