Abstract: By perturbation theory and simulations I analyze the stability of optical solitons that propagate in a periodically amplif ied fiber link with lumped semiconductor amplifiers, bandpass filters, and acousto-optic frequency shifters. I obtain the conditions for suppressing the effects of semiconductor gain and index saturation.
