Compensation of NRZ signal distortion by initial frequency shifting

Abstract: We derive an analytical condition for the compensation of the distortion of an intensity-modulated square pulse in a nonlinear dispersive fibre link by means of initial periodic frequency modulation. We confirm the validity of the method by means of numerical simulations.
