Abstract: The temperature dependence of the linewidth of the ?1 mode at 847 cm-1 of the MnO-4 ion doped in KClO4 crystals has been investigated in the range 10-298 K by frequency-resolved resonant CARS. The results are discussed in terms of relaxation processes, through which the MnO-4 ?1 mode decays into combinations of internal and external phonons of the matrix. It is found that high-order processes are dominant in accordance with the non-linear behavior of G(T) at higher T. The results are then compared to those obtained for the ?1 mode of ClO-4 in pure KClO4 and RbClO4.
